A castle from the 1100s, unique in Puglia

The 1100s castle, the only one in Apulia still inhabited by the family of origin, Princes Dentice di Frasso, is located in the center of San Vito dei Normanni ( Alto Salento). Its location is strategic in that it is a few kilometers from the main cities (20 km from the airport and train station of Brindisi, 60 km from Lecce, a magnificent city of Baroque,12 km from the train station of Ostuni, a splendid white city, 12 km from the striking nature reserve of Torre Guaceto and100 km from Bari.

In the castle, which boasts about 20 rooms all furnished with authentic period furniture and exquisitely crafted fireplaces made of Lecce stone that still warm the cold days, there is an atmosphere rich in history. Prominent guests included the King of Italy Victor Emmanuel III and Queen Helena. In more recent times the Princes have hosted Gandhi’s granddaughter Tara Gandhi and the royal family of Denmark.
